Unsatisfactory car repair leads to assault in Saratoga

Jan. 13

Identity theft: A Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal information to open a credit account and then accrued fraudulent charges totaling approximately $9,556.

Shoplifting: At 2:59 p.m., two people entered Safeway in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and stole merchandise valued at approximately $110.

Jan. 14

Assault and battery: At 12:55 p.m., a man approached the victim at the Chevron gas station on Big Basin Way to offer body repair services for a dent in the victim’s car. The victim agreed, and both drove to Park Saratoga shopping center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, where the man was to perform the work. The two got into an altercation when the victim was not satisfied with the work, and the other man punched the victim multiple times in the face before fleeing the scene.

Jan. 15

Residential burglary: Between 1:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 20000 block of Canyon View Drive by breaking a rear glass door and stole jewelry for a loss estimated at approximately $30,000.

Grand theft: Between 11 a.m. on Jan. 14 and 10 a.m. on Jan. 16, someone stole a designer tote bag, a luxury watch and a ring from a residence in the 18000 block of Ravenwood Drive, where multiple service workers had access to the property, for a total loss valued at approximately $17,700.

Vehicle burglary: Between 4 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 16, someone broke a lock, entered a van parked in the 19000 block of Vineyard Lane and stole landscaping equipment valued at approximately $3,500.

Identity theft: On Jan. 16, a Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal information to obtain an $11,000 loan for the purchase of a motorcycle.

Jan. 18

Stolen vehicle, grand theft: Between 5 p.m. on Jan. 17 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 18, someone stole a truck parked in the side yard of a residence in the 12000 block of Quito Road. The value of the truck was not provided, but there were tools valued at approximately $9,000 inside the vehicle.

Under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia: At 10:13 a.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 15000 block of Park Drive. An investigation revealed the suspect was under the influence of a controlled substance, in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and had three outstanding warrants. The suspect was arrested and booked into main jail.
