SAN JOSE — Some options are available for Bay Area hockey fans who want to watch the United States play Canada in the round-robin portion of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Saturday.
The game between the U.S. and Canada starts at 5 p.m. (PST) and is being televised nationally on ABC. However, the local ABC affiliate, KGO-TV, is scheduled to air the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade from 6-8 p.m.
Still, fans can watch the game with a subscription to ESPN+ or Disney+ or view it live “over the air” on display channel 7.2. For Comcast/Xfinity customers, the game can be seen on digital channel 715.
ESPN+ plans start at $11.99 per month or $119 per year.
KGO is airing Saturday’s game between Finland and Sweden at 10 a.m.
The 4 Nations Face-Off marks the first time in over eight years that most of the best players from Canada, the U.S., Finland, and Sweden are playing against each other in an official international competition. No current San Jose Sharks players were selected for the event.
The last time the best hockey players from Canada and the U.S. played against each other was during the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. In the opening games for the two teams, Canada beat Sweden 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday, and the U.S. topped Finland 6-1 on Thursday.
Per TNT and ESPN, viewership for the event has been relatively strong. The Canada-Sweden game averaged 1 million viewers on TNT and truTV, the most-watched hockey telecast on TNT Sports platforms this season. The USA-Finland game on ESPN delivered 1.5 million viewers, the network’s most-viewed non-playoff hockey game of the season.
The round-robin portion of the 4 Nations Face-Off ends on Monday, with Canada playing Finland at 10 a.m. (PST) and the U.S. facing Finland at 5 p.m. (PST). Both games will air on TNT. The championship game is on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN and ESPN+.

Two more Sharks games are scheduled to appear exclusively on ESPN+ this season. The streaming service will carry the Sharks’ home games against the Nashville Predators on March 11 and the Edmonton Oilers on April 3.
KGO-TV announced last August that, starting in 2025, it was entering a six-year commitment with the San Francisco Chinese Chamber of Commerce to become the exclusive broadcast home of the city’s Lunar New Year celebrations.
