The Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Greater Lake Tahoe Area are the focus of a lake wind advisory issued at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday by the National Weather Service. The advisory is valid for Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
According to the NWS Reno NV, “Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and waves 2 to 4 feet for Lake Tahoe.”
“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” the NWS said. “Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.”
