OAKLAND – A 31-year-old Oakland man is facing federal prison time for dealing firearms without a license, according to authorities.

A jury found Robert Davis guilty of selling guns he illegally purchased in Texas as well as possessing firearms and ammunition as a felon, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Davis was acquitted of an additional charge that he had possessed and shipped guns.
Evidence at Davis’ week-long trial showed that he traveled back and forth between California and Texas, where he illegally bought firearms at gun shows, according to prosecutors. Davis then advertised and sold the guns for a profit, mainly using Instagram.
During a Dec. 22, 2021, search of Davis’ apartment and vehicle, law enforcement also found a loaded firearm and more than 100 rounds of ammunition, prosecutors said. Davis was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition because of a prior felony conviction.
He faces up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for dealing firearms without a license and up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.
Davis is in custody pending sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled, according to prosecutors.
