Traffic comes to standstill on Highway 24 after apparent freeway shooting

Traffic came to a standstill Tuesday on eastbound state Highway 24 on the Oakland side of the Caldecott Tunnel, as the California Highway Patrol investigated what appears to be a shooting on the freeway, authorities said.

Hospital officials in Alameda County notified authorities that somebody had shown up with a bullet wound, and it was believed to be related to the CHP investigation, authorities said.

Traffic was at a stop on eastbound Highway 24 near the Telegraph Avenue exit, according to observers.

Further inquiries to the CHP were not answered immediately.

No other information was available immediately.
