Tickets for Laver Cup at Chase Center go on sale Friday

Tickets for the eighth Laver Cup, which will be played this summer at Chase Center, go on stale Friday morning.

The three-day hard court tennis tournament pits top men’s players from Europe against the rest of the world. Team Europe leads the series 5-2 and has won three in a row.

The Laver Cup, also known as the Ryder Cup of tennis, has sold out in each location it has been played in, but this is the first time it’ll be on the West Coast.

Tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster, beginning at 10 a.m. (Pacific). The Tournament will run from Sept. 19-21.

The tournament was started by eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer and named after tennis legend Rod Laver, the only player ever to win the Grand Slam twice in the same calendar year. Laver, 86, lives in Southern California and typically attends the tournament with his family.

Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz, currently the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the ATP, have committed to represent Team Europe for the second straight Laver Cup. No. 4 ranked Taylor Fritz and No. 13 Ben Shelton, both Americans, are the first two commitments to Team World. The rosters typically feature three of the highest-ranked players based on their ATP singles ranking on the Monday following the French Open in June, and three additional players selected by the captains.

This year’s captains are Yannick Noah and Andre Agassi.

This is the third time the Laver Cup will be played in the United States. It was at the United Center in Chicago in 2018 and TD Garden in Boston in 2021. Last year’s Cup was played in Berlin, Germany, and also has been held in Prague, Geneva, London and Vancouver.
