If Ben Affleck can’t rekindle his romance with Jennifer Garner, the actor, director and production company head could at least show his regard for his ex-wife by casting her in a movie that would finally show her “true talents,” according to a new report.
Affleck’s reported professional ideas for Garner come amid reports that he would “love another chance” with the mother of his three children, even though she’s reportedly wary of those romantic feelings and is understandably “deathly afraid of falling back in love” with him again, the Daily Mail reported.

After all, Garner lived with Affleck’s high-profile struggles with alcohol addiction and endured reports that he cheated on her during their marriage, which lasted from 2005 until their separation in 2015. There also were reports that he became involved with their children’s 28-year-old nanny. While Affleck denied having an affair with the employee, Garner addressed “the nanny” in a 2016 Vanity Fair interview and said the situation didn’t end their marriage but was hurtful to their children
“She doesn’t want to heal another broken heart because it is just too much drama, plus she does not want their kids to see round two of their mom in a bad place with their dad,” a source told the Daily Mail.
Nonetheless, Affleck and Garner have grown “closer” again in recent months, according to Page Six, following his tumultuous divorce from Jennifer Lopez. Amid this new closeness, Affleck would love to find a good role for her to play in a movie that he would produce with Artists Equity, the production company he co-founded with his good friend Matt Damon, the Daily Mail reported.

“Ben has so many ideas popping in his head, he feels like he knows just what to do with her,” a source told the Daily Mail. The exes, both 52, met while working together on two films, 2001’s “Pearl Harbor” and 2003’s “Daredevil.” Garner is best known for starring in the TV show “Alias” but received good reviews for supporting roles in “Juno” and “Dallas Buyers Club.”
“He feels that her true talents have not been brought to light and he is just the producer who can find her the right material,” the source added. “She can do both drama and comedy so he feels there are a lot of opportunities for her skills.”
Since Affleck and Garner finalized their divorce in 2018, they have maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship for the sake of their three children, Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Sam, 13. But signs that Affleck wants more with Garner, either professionally or personally, grew earlier this week after the exes were spotted “giggling” while celebrating son Samuel’s 13th birthday at a paintball park north of Los Angeles.
At one point, the “Gone Girl” star was photographed affectionally grabbing Garner around the waist as she focused her paintball gun on a target, Page Six reported. Affleck then pulled Garner toward him, and she appeared to welcome the embrace.
A source told Page Six in late January that the two “have found themselves leaning on each other more than ever,” particularly since Affleck’s divorce from Lopez “and with the L.A. fires and everything going on.”
But Garner, understandably, has “trust issues” with Affleck. “She loves Ben but is worried that he will crush her all over again,” a source told the Daily Mail.
Then there’s the matter of Garner’s boyfriend, John Miller, a tech CEO and Stanford graduate, whom she’s been dating since 2018. When the two began dating, a source told Us Weekly that Garner is “ready to start the next phase of her life.”
Affleck is said to respect Garner’s relationship with Miller, “would never come between them” and realizes that the timing might not be right for him to reunite with Garner.
But Affleck could still put her in a movie and is supposedly able to work with his ex-partners. Notably, his company was involved in producing Lopez’s two recent films, “Unstoppable” and “Kiss of the Spiderwoman” — even as their marriage was falling apart.
