Boogie DJs wanted
Downtown Campbell’s Boogie Music Festival is introducing a dedicated DJ stage for this year’s festival, set for May 17-18. Applications are being accepted at https://tinyurl.com/BoogieDJ for those who want to spin on the DJ Central Stage.
Skilled students
Campbell Union High School District was well represented among the 225 Silicon Valley Career Technical Education center students who put their talents to the test at the SkillsUSA regional competitions, held Jan. 11-Feb. 8. Students demonstrated their expertise across a range of 30 career and technical competitions and were evaluated against industry standards like Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) and related technical math.
Gold medal winners from Campbell included Sam Aslani and Yareli Valencia from Boynton High School, who won in the Community Action Project and Video Production categories, respectively. Del Mar High School students who took home gold were Amanda Illges, Emergency Medical Technician; Monserrat Valladares Sanchez, welding sculpture; and Imani Wilson and Juliana Muller Ruiz, who both won for web design and development. Representing Branham High School were Isaac Aguilar and Jack Joseph Lewis, both of whom were awarded gold medals for welding fabrication.
Branham student Renz Tarriela won a silver medal for Robotics: Urban Search and Rescue, while August Ulrey and Giana Giselle Dolor, both from Westmont High School earned silver in job skill demonstration and nurse assisting, respectively.
Bronze medalists from Campbell included Branham’s Luke Abbott for Crime Scene Investigation and Prospect High School’s Leilani E Gorginian for practical nursing. Leigh High School’s Divya Agrawal and Nathan Lien also earned bronze for pin design and Robotics: Urban Search and Rescue, respectively.
