Person wounded in shooting on East Bay commute road

LIVERMORE — A shooting Tuesday on a major rural commute road injured a person and caused a shutdown of the road, police said.

Crash on Highway 101 ends getaway of alleged Bay Area thieves

In a social media post at 5 p.m., Livermore police said they were investigating the shooting and that it happened in the area of North Vasco Road and Dalton Avenue. N. Vasco Road is the beginning of a rural two-lane road that originates in Livermore and connects Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

According to police, the shooting wounded a person who was taken by ambulance to a hospital. The person is expected to survive, police said.

Police closed Vasco Road in both directions until about 7:10 p.m.

No other information was available immediately.
