The Greater Lake Tahoe Area placed under a lake wind advisory Wednesday

At 1:07 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a lake wind advisory valid for Wednesday, Mar. 19 between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

The NWS Reno NV says to anticipate, “Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and waves 1 to 3 feet.”

“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” according to the NWS. “Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.”
