Celebrating Nowruz
The Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose is hosting its annual Nowruz celebration on March 29, welcoming in the beginning of spring with traditional music and dance, cultural learning and hands-on activities. This celebration aims to honor the customs and traditions of the Persian New Year.

Museum hours are 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with special programming from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tickets are $16-$18 at https://www.cdm.org/celebrate/lunar-new-year.
Neighborhood Notes
ALMADEN/ CAMBRIAN/ ROSE GARDEN>>Students from multiple high schools in the San Jose Unified School District, as well as one from a private high school in the city, will have artworks featured in ArtNow, the annual juried high school art exhibition and educational program presented by New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU). This year’s show will be on view at NUMU April 4-July 20.
Student artists from across Santa Clara County were asked to interpret the theme “Dreamscapes” for their ArtNow submissions. Leland High School students with works in the 14th annual show include seniors Jason Choi, Hyunsuh Kang and Caroline Tomaz. Leigh High School is represented by junior Emily Hernandez Acevedo and seniors Agnes-Hana Boudrant, Yuval Chen, Arthur Hu and Haley Lee.
Other San Jose students in the show are Lincoln High School senior Derek Everling and BASIS Independent Silicon Valley junior Yiling Wu.
The 83 student artists in the show have the opportunity to win awards in eight artistic categories as well as an overall Best in Show and a People’s Choice award. The categories are painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital art and video/animation. Scholarships totaling more than $10,000 will also be awarded.
