Stanford offers blood donors a Giant incentive this month

This month, donors at Stanford Blood Centers, including the South Bay Donor Center in Campbell, will be registered for a drawing to win a VIP Fantasy Batting Practice Day on Friday, July 26, 9 a.m.-noon at Oracle Park, 24 Willie Mays Plaza, San Francisco.

While all blood types are needed, Stanford Blood Center is experiencing a critical shortage of type O blood and is urging the public to donate.

Retirement planning workshop

The Campbell Community Center is hosting an educational workshop on June 25 covering Taxes and Retirement Planning, including how to avoid the top seven retirement planning mistakes.

Attendees can get professional guidance on potentially reducing the taxation of their retirement income, including Social Security, and how to position themselves for better returns on investments.

The concepts discussed in this workshop are most suitable for those with investable assets of $150,000 or more. Topic covered will include financial strategies that could increase retirement income, understanding the new tax rules and their impact on retirement, common misconceptions about retirement planning and tools, methods available to retirees to help develop a retirement tax strategy and how to structure retirement savings to avoid running out of money.
