LIVERMORE — Three lanes on a major Bay Area freeway were closed Tuesday morning after a vegetation fire broke out, authorities said.

The fire was burning in the vicinity of the North Flynn Road exit off Interstate 580, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic after shutting down all but the far left two lanes in the eastbound direction about 8:15 a.m.
It was unclear how fast the fire was moving or how many acres had burned. Fire officials from the Alameda County Fire Department and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department did not immediately return calls for information.
