OAKLAND — A hit-and-run collision in East Oakland early Friday left a bicyclist dead, police said.
The name of the man killed, a 51-year-old Oakland resident, has not yet been released pending notification of his family, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened just after 12 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of 105th Avenue.
Police said that according to witnesses a silver Saturn sedan was speeding southbound on 105th Avenue when it struck the bicyclist near Nattress Way.
The impact knocked the rider from the bicyclist onto the roadway where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the man driving the Saturn stopped briefly to remove the victim’s bicycle from underneath his vehicle before driving away southbound on 105th Avenue.
A detailed description of the driver was not released.
Investigators said it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in what happened.
