East Bay Municipal Utility District workers shut down the pipe and worked on repairs overnight, district spokesperson Sun Kwong Sze said.

Sze said the repairs were expected to be completed by noon. The extent of the damage to the homes was unknown.

The break happened in the area of Tara Hills Drive and Kevin Road, and traffic controls were in place at that intersection, Sze said. A section of both roads were closed.

The break caused roads in the area to be flooded. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the break has not been determined.
