The two people on board the boat abandoned ship and were picked up by a good Samaritan in another boat nearby, said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Graves.

The boat, of a style called a “cuddy cabin,” was near Westpoint Marina at the time of the fire. The Coast Guard initially sent a helicopter to assist the people who abandoned ship, but it left after seeing that they had boarded the rescue boat, Graves said.

Redwood City Fire Department responded to the fire, Graves added. RCFD did not immediately respond to a media inquiry Monday.
