Hayward man shot in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 26-year-old Hayward man was shot Monday night in the Eastlake district, authorities said.

He was in stable condition at a hospital where he is being treated for a wound to his lower body, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 10:22 p.m. Monday in the  600 block of East 10th Street.

The man was sitting in his parked vehicle when someone approached him from outside  and shot him, police said.

The man was able to drive to another location a few blocks away where police found him.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation and no suspect information has been released.  Police have not said what the man was doing in Oakland.
