Urban hike
Join Saratoga’s Parks and Recreation Commission on an urban hike on July 20. The group is inviting interested hikers to meet at the Saratoga Library’s parking lot at 7:50 a.m. that day for the hike to begin at 8 a.m.. The route along Saratoga’s Heritage Loop Trail is 4.5 miles of relatively flat terrain, and attendees must register in advance and fill out a waiver at saratoga.ca.us.
Indian classical dance
On Saturday, July 12, the Saratoga Library is hosting a series of Indian classical dance performances in its community room.
From 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., attendees can watch a Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi performances from accomplished dancers in the community. For more information, visit sccld.org/locations/saratoga.
Board game night
The Friends of the Saratoga Libraries are hosting a board game night for adults on July 15, 6-8 p.m., in the Saratoga Library’s Maple Room. A variety of games will be available to play at this drop-in event.

The Friends of the Saratoga Libraries are holding a “huge” paperback book sale July 27-28 in the Saratoga Library’s community room, 13650 Saratoga Ave. Books will be on sale for 50 cents each, and $5 per bag on Sunday, July 28.

Play on the Grounds
The next show in Montalvo Arts Center’s “Play on the Grounds” summer event series is “Art of Murder.” The comedy tells the tale of a painter awaiting the arrival of his art dealer, who he plans to kill. Staged readings of the play are set for July 24-26 at 6 p.m. at Montalvo.
Tickets are $30 at montalvoarts.org. Attendees can purchase drinks and snacks at Montalvo’s concessions stand or bring their own food.
