Olivia Munn and John Mulaney have let it be known Wednesday that they tied the knot this past weekend in a simple, intimate ceremony at a friend’s home in New York State.
Intimate is certainly a correct description, given that reports say there were only three people in attendance, including the couple’s 2-year-old son, Malcom, and an unnamed witness, TMZ said.
TMZ also said there also was an officiant, and that person was someone with some gravitas: Veteran actor Sam Waterston, who is beloved to generations of crime show fans for his longtime role as prosecutor Jack McCoy in “Law and Order.”

TMZ said that Munn, 44, became friends with Waterston when they starred together on the show, “The Newsroom.” Waterston’s wife, Lynn, was the witness for the ceremony, and it’s likely that the wedding took place at the Waterston’s home.
The news of the wedding comes four months after Munn, 44, opened up in March about her “terrifying” breast cancer diagnosis, People reported. The “Predator” star revealed that she was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in 2023 after tests revealed she had luminal B — a fast-moving, aggressive cancer — in both breasts.
“You realize cancer doesn’t care who you are; it doesn’t care if you have a baby or if you don’t have time,” Munn told People in April. “It comes at you, and you have no choice but to face it head-on.”
Munn underwent a double mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery last fall, People said. She had four surgeries over the span of 10 months, and in April 2024 also underwent a hysterectomy.
During an interview with Vogue in May, Mulaney, 41, praised Munn’s strength, while alluding to his own struggles to overcome a serious drug addiction and the controversial start of their relationship in the spring of 2021.
“Olivia and I have been through a lot of things together in the past couple years,” the comedian and “Saturday Night Live” alum told Vogue. “Just side-by-side, supporting each other through anything.”
Mulaney was either still married to his then-wife of six years, Anna Marie Tendler, in 2021, or in the process of seeking a divorce. Mulaney insisted in an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” that he had already moved out of the home he shared with Tendler in the fall of 2020 before he and Munn began dating. On the late-night show, Mulaney also revealed that they were expecting a baby.
When the comedian hosted “Saturday Night Live” in February 2022, Mulaney opened up about his sobriety and sweetly touched on the arrival of the couple’s then 3-month-old. “Life is a lot better and happier now,” he said. “He is a pretty cool guy for someone who can’t vote.”
The couple have spent time on the East Coast this summer as Munn shoots the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Your Friends and Neighbors,” People reported. Mulaney, who wrapped his live pop-up Netflix show “Everybody’s in L.A.” in April, has continued his comedy tour.
“We’re a really strong little family,” Munn told People in April. “We’re really just there for each other.”
