Man confesses to lighting fire under Campbell overpass

July 8

BURGLARY: 11 a.m. in the 200 block of Hollis Avenue. Someone forced entry into a residence and stole various items.

July 9

POSSESSION OF PERSONAL ID INFORMATION, CONCEALED DIRK OR DAGGER: 3:04 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Bascom Avenue. A man was stopped for a vehicle code violation on his bike. He was in possession of a concealed dirk or dagger in his front left pocket. He was also found to be in possession of multiple credit cards not belonging to him and had a prior felon conviction for identity theft.

POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA: 11:04 a.m. in the 600 block of East Campbell Avenue. During a pedestrian stop on a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk, his belongings were searched and drug paraphernalia was discovered.

DEADLY WEAPON: 7:33 p.m. in the 2300 block of Winchester Boulevard. The suspect was walking by two people when he brandished what appeared to be a machete approximately a foot long.

July 11

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 1:56 a.m. at South Bascom and Camden avenues. A man was stopped for vehicle code violations. A consent search of his backpack revealed drug paraphernalia and psilocybin.

HIT AND RUN: 7 a.m.at East Hamilton Avenue Highway 17. A driver ran a red light,  hitting a vehicle and causing damage.

VEHICLE THEFT, UNDER INFLUENCE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 7:02 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Bascom Avenue. Officers were dispatched to an attempted theft of a semi truck. The suspect was contacted while fleeing the area and detained. She displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a narcotic

DUI: 10:54 p.m. at West Sunnyoaks Avenue and Sobrato Drive. A driver was stopped for a vehicle code violation and displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

July 12

ARSON: 10:04 p.m. at Creekside Way and Los Gatos Creek Trail: A man started a fire under the overpass bridge. He returned to the scene while investigators were there and ultimately confessed to lighting the fire. He was in possession of a lighter and a paper cup that he had attempted to light on fire.

Fremont man arrested for communicating with minor for sex, police say

ANNOYING TELEPHONE CALLS: 5 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Hamilton Avenue. The victim reported her ex-boyfriend was repeatedly calling her and threatening to beat her up and vandalize her car. She desired prosecution.

DUI, DISORDERLY CONDUCT: 1:31 a.m. at  Camden and Curtner avenues. A man was stopped for a vehicle code violation. Field sobriety tests were performed, and he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Another man was deemed too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested for being drunk in public.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, PETTY THEFT: 2:18 p.m. in the 2400 block of Winchester Boulevard. The suspect entered the store and stole merchandise, then returned and was chased back out of the store. The suspect was located across the street and was placed in custody for the theft. A search incident to arrest revealed they were in possession of methamphetamine.

July 14

HIT AND RUN: 8:19 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Hamilton Avenue. Three victims were rear-ended by a gold Honda. The Honda’s front bumper, along with its license plate, was left at the scene.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, POSSESSION OF METAL KNUCKLES: 7:35 p.m. at East Hamilton and South Bascom avenues. A man was stopped for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be driving with a suspended license and is on formal probation out of Fresno County for domestic violence. He was also found to be in possession of a collapsible baton and brass knuckles.

July 15

DUI: 12:27 a.m. at Salmar and Harrison avenues. A man was contacted during a traffic enforcement stop and found to be DUI. His 2-year-old daughter was also in the car. He provided a breath sample and was booked without incident.
