A woman bicyclist died after a collision with a van near the northern end of Coyote Creek Park in San Jose, police said Friday.
The collision was reported about 6:26 p.m. on Thursday in the area of Tully Road and La Ragione Avenue, police said.
Two cyclists, a woman and a man, were crossing Tully Road from south to north outside of a crosswalk, police said.
A 2018 white Ford Transit van, going west on Tully Road, swerved to avoid one of the bicyclists when it struck the woman cyclist, police said.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the van remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office, police said.
It was the 25th traffic death of the year, police said.
