Man runs into door, drops stolen suitcase trying to flee Campbell store

July 29

DISTURB BY LOUD NOISE: 1300 block of Pollard Road. The suspect was contacted about live music after the victim reported her peace was disturbed. The suspect had been admonished on several prior occasions.

VEHICLE THEFT: 1700 block of South Bascom Avenue. A man reported his vehicle stolen then located it in front of the bar he frequents.

July 30

UNDER INFLUENCE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 500 block of West Hamilton Avenue. A man was setting fire to bushes. He told officers he was under the influence and  was placed under arrest.

GRAND THEFT: 500 block of West Hacienda Avenue. Someone accessed the victim’s accounts and debit card without permission.

VEHICLE THEFT: Olympia Avenue and Shamrock Drive. A 1999 Ford E-150 work van was stolen.

DUI CAUSING BODILY INJURY: 1100 block of West Hamilton Avenue. A man was involved in a single-vehicle accident involving a tree. He admitted to drinking alcohol and driving the vehicle. As a result of the crash, his passenger suffered a visible injury.

July 31

GRAND THEFT: 300 block of East Hamilton Avenue. Someone stole the victim’s purse from her unlocked vehicle and charged her credit card for about $3,000.

INTENT TO TERRORIZE: 300 block of Esther Avenue. During an argument, a man grabbed the victim by the neck and held her for about 10 minutes. The victim said she had a slight difficulty breathing. The man also grabbed her wrists and arms and pushed her. He brandished a knife and said he would kill her. He was arrested.

INTENT TO TERRORIZE: 300 block of Union Avenue. The suspect told the victim he would cut his hands off with a machete, and had also told the victim in the past he would kill him.

ROBBERY: 500 block of East Hamilton Avenue. Two suspects stole shoes.

RETAIL THEFT: 500 block of East Hamilton Avenue.  Two suspects entered a business and stole clothing valued at approximately $1,680.

BURGLARY: 300 block of East Hamilton Avenue. Someone broke the front window, entered and stole a safe.

GRAND THEFT: West Hacienda Avenue and South Winchester Boulevard. Three suspects with masks were seen stealing a catalytic converter off a Toyota Prius.

Aug. 1

BURGLARY : 1000 block of West Hamilton Avenue.  Two suspects were attempting to burglarize a residence but were interrupted.

VANDALISM: 2300 block of South Winchester Boulevard. Someone threw lug nuts at exterior windows, causing over $1,000 in damage.

GRAND THEFT: 715 block of West Valley Drive. The catalytic converter was stolen from a Prius. The suspect was described as a male wearing all black and driving a dark-colored Dodge Challenger.

Aug. 2

POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: San Tomas Expressway and Budd Avenue. A man was reportedly vandalizing the pedestrian bridge at John D. Morgan Park. He matched the description of a suspect who had stolen a FLOCK camera in San Jose one hour earlier and another FLOCK camera on Aug. 1. The suspect was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Officers discovered a FLOCK camera in his possession.

SOLICIT LEWD ACT IN PUBLIC: 900 block of West Hamilton Avenue. A man was masturbating in public and was captured on hidden camera by two victims.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, VANDALISM, BURGLARY: 200 block of West Campbell Avenue. A man destroyed one of the decorative orbs in front of the Campbell Community Center. He then attempted to break into a personal residence before being contacted by police. He was found to be under the influence of a stimulant and was placed under arrest.

GRAND THEFT: 1800 block of South Bascom Avenue. A man entered a store and gathered about $1,000 worth of merchandise in a suitcase he obtained while in the store. When loss prevention made contact with him, he ran into the sliding doors as he attempted to flee, causing him to drop all of the merchandise and flee without any items.

GRAND THEFT: 1700 block of South Bascom Avenue. Two suspects entered with their own reusable shopping bags and stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise. The suspects were identified by loss prevention from previous theft reports at varying locations.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Campisi Way and South Bascom Avenue. A woman was contacted for wandering in the roadway. During the investigation, She was found to be under the influence of a  stimulant.

DUI, VIOLATING COURT ORDER: 2300 block of South Winchester Boulevard. A driver reported that a man had almost collided with them and was swerving between lanes. The suspect was located in a parked car with the victim. He displayed signs of alcohol intoxication, a field sobriety tests revealed him to be under the influence of alcohol. A criminal records check revealed he is the restrained party in no-contact order with the victim. He was arrested.

Aug. 3

BURGLARY : 1500 block of West Campbell Avenue. The suspect broke into a business and stole cigarettes and Mountain Dew.

DUI: 1500 block of Camden Avenue. A man was involved in a vehicle collision with another driver. He displayed objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

ROBBERY, CARJACKING: 2200 block of Winchester Boulevard. A man was reportedly causing a disturbance in the parking lot. He got into the victim’s running vehicle via the front passenger seat and climbed into the driver’s seat. When the victim reached into the vehicle to remove the keys, the man grabbed a gold chain from around their neck.

ARSON, UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 500 block of East Hamilton Avenue. A man lit a shirt on fire, which caused dry foliage around it to ignite. Unprompted, he told officers he started to fire. He was found to be under influence of a stimulant.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, BATTERY: 300 block of Orchard City Drive. A man was contacted after causing a disturbance where he spit on security staff. He was too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested.

FALSE IMPRISONMENT, VANDALISM, BATTERY: 300 block of Orchard City Drive. The suspect took the victim’s phone when she tried to call 911 and destroyed it. They also destroyed the victim’s headlamps. The suspect covered the victim’s mouth when she tried to scream for help. Recently, the victim had observed the suspect walking around her property and peeking through her windows. They had also been following her to work. The victim desired prosecution. The suspect is at large. A restraining order was granted.

CHILD ABUSE: 200 block of Hollis Avenue. During an argument, a man strangled one victim for 5 seconds, applying pressure with both hands, and then punching the victim in the ribs. The man threw another victim across the room. The first victim was transported to the hospital. A restraining order was granted, and the man was placed under arrest.

DUI: South Winchester Boulevard and Alice Avenue.  A man was contacted at the scene of a collision in which he hit a parked vehicle. He was found to be DUI.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: 200 block of Echo Avenue. A man entered a private patio without permission or lawful business with the victim. He attempted to open a sliding door located in patio. He stayed on the property even after being told by the victim to leave. He was arrested.
