OAKLAND — A woman was shot to death Wednesday afternoon in East Oakland, authorities said.
No information has been released yet but she is believed to be an adult, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 5600 block of Hilton Street, a primarily residential area.

The victim was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests were announced and no suspect information was released.
The killing is the 55th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 65 homicides in the city.
