OAKLAND – A person was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in West Oakland, police said.

The shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 3400 block of Wood Street, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Officers arrived to find a person in the rear seat of a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. Paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
An investigation is underway into the homicide. Police did not announce any arrests Tuesday.
