Preseason all-Bay Area News Group high school football 2024: Kickers/punters

As part of our high school football coverage to get you ready for the 2024 season, we are rolling out all-Bay Area Area News Group preseason recognition.

Mateo Alvarez, Gunderson, PK, junior

Second-team all-BVAL West Valley kicker. Was 21 of 22 on point-after touchdowns, 3 of 3 on field goals, with a long of 40 yards.

Rylan Antipuesto, Christopher, PK, 5-8, 135, senior

Second-team all-BVAL Mt. Hamilton kicker. Made 49 of 53 of his PATs. Was 6 of 9 on FGs with a long of 37 yards.

Casey Carr, Santa Teresa, K/P, 6-2, 210, senior 

The young man who goes by the alias “Cowboy Kicker” on social media has a 4.5 star rating by Chris Sailer Kicking. Carr was 5 of 9 on FGs and 20 of 23 on PATs in 2023. Went 8 of 9 on FGs in 2022 as the Saints won the NorCal Division 6-AA championship. Had three touchbacks on kickoffs.

Odhran Kenny, St. Ignatius, K/P, 6-3, 180, senior

Has a 4.5 star rating by Chris Sailer Kicking. WCAL kicker of year and first-team all-WCAL honoree went 27 of 27 on PATs and 11 of 11 on FGs, with a long of 45 yards.

Ethan Ling, Amador Valley, P/K, 6-0, 170, senior 

Chris Sailer 4.5-star punter and four-star kicker. Multi-sport athlete who also runs track (11.55 in the 100 meters, 23.25 in the 200 meters).

Charlie Snell, Encinal, K/LB/WR, 6-0, 180, senior

Made a 46-yard field goal last season against Piedmont. Encinal coach Derrick Lyons said Snell is a “fearless kicker who happens to be our best athlete.” Converted 75% on PATs and 50% on field goals. Had three punts inside the 20-yard line and one that went 60 yards. Two touchbacks on kickoffs.

Mason Stinson, Alhambra, PK, 5-9, 160, senior

Nathan Fox, Sacred Heart Prep, K/WR/DB, 5-11, 150, junior 

Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division special teams player of the year. Was 35 of 36 on PATs and 3 of 5 on FGs, with a long of 38 yards.

Those eligible for all-BANG honors come from leagues based predominantly in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The news organization’s high school sports staff chooses the players.
