Chick-fil-A is coming to South Santa Clara County, with the Gilroy restaurant opening Thursday and a Morgan Hill location in the works.
The Gilroy restaurant will be at 7060 Chestnut St. just off of Highway 101 across from the South Valley Shopping center, in the new Plaza Allium. It will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and carry-out from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. (Like all Chick-fil-A locations, it will be closed on Sunday.) The Gilroy restaurant will be 24th in the Bay Area and the farthest south before Salinas.
The Morgan Hill Chick-fil-A is currently in the permitting process and is expected to break ground next month, according to Morgan Hill Economic Development Director Matthew Mahood.
Chick-Fil-A was first opened in Atlanta in 1967, and while it has faced controversy for its historic stance on LGBTQ+ issues, became known as a purveyor of beloved chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and shakes and has counted itself among the highest grossing fast-food chains in recent years.
As with at other Chick-fil-A locations, the chain’s giving policy to charities will focus on contributions to nonprofits that work in the areas of hunger and education. To celebrate the opening of the new location, Chick-fil-A has donated $25,000 to Feeding America, with the funds supporting Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.
