One dead, another hospitalized in Hayward stabbing

HAYWARD — A 39-year-old man died and a woman was hospitalized earlier this week following a stabbing, police said.

Oakland resident Damon Roberts, 20, arrested in connection with shooting, wounding father sleeping in home

The violence happened Sunday morning about 2:05 a.m. after police said an altercation escalated in the 24000 block of Silva Avenue. Police released a statement about the incident Tuesday night.

Authorities did not identify the man immediately. He died at the scene.

The homicide is the ninth one investigated by Hayward police in 2024.

The 37-year-old woman went by ambulance to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said.

Investigators continue to search for a suspect in the stabbing and have not made any arrests. Police asked anyone with any information to contact Det. Nicholas Niedenthal at 510-293-7176.
