‘Handmaid’s’ opera lecture set for Sept. 11 in Los Gatos

The San Jose and San Francisco opera guilds are co-sponsoring a lecture  in Los Gatos on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” an opera based on Margaret Atwood’s book.

The lecture is set for Wednesday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center. Tickets are free for members of the opera guilds and the JCC and $10 for non-members. For more information, visit sjoperaguild.org.

Trail cleanup

Los Gatos High School’s Key Club and the Los Gatos Kiwanis Club will be hosting a joint cleanup of the Los Gatos Creek Trail on Saturday, Sept. 14, 10-11:30 a.m..

Cleanup volunteers will meet at the Old Forbes Mill Parking Lot behind 55 Church St. Garbage bags, gloves and other supplies will be provided, along with light snacks and coffee. For more information, visit losgatoschamber.com/events.

Art and Wine Fiesta

The annual Los Gatos Kiwanis Club’s annual Art and Wine Fiesta is set for Sept. 21-22. The event will feature live music all weekend, gourmet food trucks, wine, craft beer and more on the civic center lawn at 110 E. Main St. Funds raised at the event will help support scholarships for local at-risk high school students and other community service projects that the Kiwanis Club is involved in.
