Juvenile stabbed in Pleasanton, suspect sought

PLEASANTON — A suspect is being sought in the Monday afternoon stabbing of a male juvenile who tried to flee in a vehicle before it crashed, authorities said.

The victim, whose age was not released, was treated and released at a hospital. Police said he is a teenager but have not said where he lives.

Authorities said the youth was stabbed in the torso about 2:55 p.m. Monday during an altercation with another juvenile that happened outside on Harrison Street. Investigators did not specify the nature of the disturbance.

Police said after he was stabbed, the youth got into a vehicle and drove off, but crashed a short distance away.

He and the suspect and other individuals present fled on foot, police said.

Following a thorough search that included air support from the East Bay Regional Park District’s helicopter, officers located the victim in the area.

The knife used in the stabbing was also recovered, police said.

Investigators determined that the victim knows the person who stabbed him. Police said the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident and there is no indication of a wider threat.

Authorities were trying to identify other individuals who were present.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 925-931-5100.
