The collision happened around 6:25 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Granada Way and Lucretia Avenue, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release.

An initial investigation revealed a man was riding a 2017 Yamaha northbound on Lucretia Avenue when he was hit by a woman in a 2019 Toyota RAV4 making a left turn from westbound Granada Way onto southbound Lucretia Way, Hernandez said.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was stabilized but later died of his injuries.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

The death marked the 36th traffic fatality of the year on city streets. At this time last year, San Jose had recorded 35 roadway deaths.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Hernandez said.
