The 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition SUV

What is a RAV4? The RAV4 is a compact crossover SUV built in the Woodstock, Ontario, Canada assembly plant and sold in North America by Toyota. The Toyota RAV4 is America’s best selling SUV for many reasons. From its sleek design, impressive fuel economy, to its reliable performance, the Toyota RAV4 has something for everyone.

The Toyota RAV4 is the best volume selling SUV sport utility vehicle in the United States, with over 434,900 vehicles sold through December 2023, and has been Toyota’s number one best selling overall vehicle for the last 10 years and counting.

With 7 trim levels to choose from the 2024 RAV4 has a model and a price point for everybody’s budget. For 2024, you can choose from the Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE, Hybrid Woodland Edition, Hybrid XLE Premium, Hybrid SE, Hybrid XSE, and the Hybrid Limited. All models have a hybrid drive train and all qualify as an electrified vehicle.

To showcase this hybrid driveline, Toyota sent me a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid SUV to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for the Woodland Edition is $34,695. The only option on the test SUV is the 2 tone exterior paint package for $500. The manufactures suggested retail price (MSRP) , including the $1,350 delivery charge, is: $36,545.

After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealers fees, the out the door and in your garage total purchase price came to: $41,113. At just over $41 Grand, your price is over $7,500 less that the average sales transaction price of $48,800, plus you get to drive a great SUV for the money. Not only is the RAV4 the best to buy, it also has a fantastic demand on the used car market down the road. Easy to buy, fun to drive, and valuable at trade in time, which is why it’s the #1 best selling SUV for sale in America.

Power for this compact SUV sport utility vehicle comes from a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder gas engine and an electric motor with 219 combined horsepower, bolted to an electronic continuous variable transmission (CVT), routed into an electronic on-demand all wheel drive (AWD) traction control system, with a Toyota Racing Division (TRD) specially tuned suspension. This hybrid drive train gets 38 miles per gallon (MPG) in the city, 35 MPG highway, and a very respectable 37 MPG in overall combined driving. The greenhouse gas rating is a 7, and the smog rating is a 7, both out of 10. These are great numbers all around.

The Woodland Edition comes with a 6 speaker sound system with wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio and Android Auto, a fast refresh 8 inch center stack infotainment touch screen, dual zone automatic climate control, 5 USB ports, a 120 volt 1000 watt power outlet in the cargo area, a power drivers seat, a fabric trimmed interior, a smart key, push button start, and a set of Woodland Edition logo exclusive all weather interior floor mats and a large Woodland Edition logo rear cargo mat.

The exterior has LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, a set of very cool looking 18″ Woodland Edition bronze colored alloy wheels, a set of high profile roof rails with cross bars, and front and rear body side mounted mud and splash guards.

Safety and convenience items include Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5 with pre collision warning with pedestrian detection, full speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, road sign assist, an 8 airbag protection system, connected services via a 4G network, LATCH lower anchor and tether points for child’s seats, a back up camera with dynamic gridlines, and a blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert. It has everything you need in one trim package.

Why does everyone love the Toyota RAV4? Two of the reasons are that the RAV4 was awarded a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, awarding it to be a safe vehicle for couples, solo drivers, and families. The RAV4’s overall vehicle safety score is 5 Stars, the highest rating you can get, from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The RAV4 is known for its smooth power, and reliability, allowing this model to stand tall and be the best SUV in the compact class.
