Brittany Mahomes has apparently finally awakened to the reality that Donald Trump is a polarizing person who likes to hurl harsh, hateful rhetoric at people he wants to vilify for political purposes or personal gain.
A report by the Daily Mail said that the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is rethinking her reported support of the GOP presidential candidate, following his scathing public attack on her friend Taylor Swift.
Trump lashed out at the pop mega-star Sunday morning, after she endorsed Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent, in the immediate aftermath of his poor performance in the Sept. 10 presidential debate. Trump wrote on his Truth Social Platform: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

Trump’s expression of hatred for Swift reportedly left Mahomes “shaken,” according to the Daily Mail. The “hate Taylor Swift” post also came a few hours before Trump was the target of an alleged assassination attempt at his golf club in Florida.
“She is questioning her support for Donald Trump after he lashed out at Taylor, saying he hates her,” a source told the Daily Mail. “This deeply bothered Brittany because Taylor is like a sister to her and she has done absolutely nothing wrong.”
But the source cautioned that the mother of two’s reported change of heart about Trump doesn’t mean that she is “suddenly voting Kamala. It has just made her more aware of supporting him so publicly.”
Mahomes was embroiled in controversy late last month when fans noticed that she had reportedly liked one of Trump’s Instagram posts, outlining the GOP platform. Since then, she’s been embraced by Trump supporters on her social media accounts, while the former president himself personally thanked her for defending him and his MAGA agenda.
But Mahomes’ apparent support for Trump has been seen as complicating her friendship with Swift, whom she’s gotten to know because the pop star is dating Travis Kelce, her husband’s good friend and Chiefs teammate.

Then came Swift’s endorsement of Harris. Swift wrote on Instagram: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” Swift’s endorsement was accompanied by a photo of her, holding one of her cats. She signed her endorsement, “Childless Cat Lady,” a tart reference to demeaning statements made by Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance about women, cat owners and and people who don’t have children.
Trump has appeared to delight in putting the women’s friendship on the spot, in a visible attempt to divide them because of their reported political differences. The day after Swift announced her endorsement, he went on Fox News to sing Mahomes’ praises, saying, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth.” He also warned that “liberal” Swift would “pay a price” at “the marketplace.”
But as much as Trump may have tried, he hasn’t succeeded in driving a wedge between the two women. Swift and Kelce were seen sharing a box with Brittany and Patrick Mahomes at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships men’s final on Sept. 8. Swift also also was one of the guests at the 29th birthday party that Mahomes threw for her husband Sunday night, following the Chiefs’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Us Weekly reported.
In Swift’s endorsement of Harris, she also voiced concern over Trump’s use of AI photos of her on Truth Social. Back in August, the former reality TV star shared fake photos of Swift and her fans, along with messages that falsely portrayed her as a Trump supporter.
Trump’s post “really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” Swift wrote. “It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
To that end, Swift said that she would be supporting Harris for president in the 2024 presidential election.
Swift’s endorsement didn’t come as too much of a surprise. She “proudly” endorsed Joe Biden and Harris in 2020, saying that the two in the White House would help heal the country after Trump stoked “the fires of white supremacy and racism” during his “entire” presidency from, 2017 to 2021. She said she was happy to help vote him “out in November.”
