Italian festival returns to San Jose on Oct. 6, with afterparty at speakeasy

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is hosting three virtual lunchtime deep dives into local folklore in October. Each week’s streamed event will showcase the South Bay’s cultural history and diversity.

Folklore Fridays are set to stream live Oct. 11, 18 and 25, noon to 1 p.m. on the authority’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/openspaceauthority. Recordings will be published at https://www.youtube.com/@openspaceauthority.

10th annual Teal Run set for Sept. 29 at Campbell Park

ROSE GARDEN>>Ahead of the Little Italy San Jose Italian Festival, organizers are kicking off the weekend on Oct. 4 with the grand opening of the Little Italy Cultural Center and Museum, located at 323 W. St. John St.

Set for 5:30-10 p.m., the event includes a performance in the Italian Cellar Speakeasy by Vanessa Racci and Cory Pesatauro, a plated, four-course Italian dinner with wine and a tour of the museum exhibits.

Dress is cocktail attire, and specialty cocktails will be available at the Italian Cellar Speakeasy located below the museum.

The Little Italy San Jose Italian Festival follows on Oct. 6, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., with an afterparty at the Italian Cellar Speakeasy from 7-11 p.m. Established in 2016, Little Italy Festival draws 20,000 to 25,000 people to sample the country’s food and wine and enjoy Italian entertainment, arts and crafts. The festival also boasts one of the largest Italian car shows in the United States.
