Tech companies chop hundreds more Bay Area jobs as industry wobbles

SAN JOSE — Tech companies have revealed plans to jettison hundreds more Bay Area workers in an unsettling reminder that the shaky industry is still seeking ways to trim employment.

Intel, Gigamon, Maxar Space and AppLovin are among the latest high-tech employers to disclose their intentions to trim their respective workforces in the Bay Area, according to official filings with the state Employment Development Department.

Here are the details for the most recent staffing reductions reported by tech companies and their effects in the Bay Area:

— Intel, 47 job cuts in San Jose.

— Gigamon, 69 layoffs in Santa Clara.

— Maxar Space, 61 staffing reductions in the South Bay. These include 52 layoffs in Palo Alto and nine job cuts in Mountain View.

— AppLovin, 58 job cuts in Palo Alto.

The job cuts were all characterized as permanent, according to the WARN notices filed with the state EDD.
