CFB recruiting: Amador Valley quarterback Tristan Tia commits to Oregon State

One of the top quarterbacks in the Bay Area is staying on the West Coast.

Amador Valley QB Tristan Tia has committed to Oregon State, he announced on Monday.

“Beyond humbled and blessed to commit to the @BeaverFootball,” Tia said on the social media platform X on Monday night.

According to his X account, he took his official visit to Oregon State on Saturday and was offered a scholarship on the same day. Tia chose Oregon State over offers from Appalachian State, Boston College, Colorado State and Montana.

Through seven games this season, Tia has thrown for 1,960 yards and 19 touchdowns while completing 79.6% of his passes. He has also rushed for 494 yards and nine touchdowns.

Tia transferred from Granada last season, and despite missing the first five games of 2023, he earned All-BANG Honorable Mention honors.

The 6-foot-3 quarterback joins an Oregon State recruiting class that includes fellow Bay Area seniors Logan Knapp (Clayton Valley tight end) and Ellijah Washington (Castlemont wide receiver).

Tia comes from a family of athletes as his brother, Malini, is a safety at Sacramento State and his sister, Nayeli, is an outside hitter for San Jose State’s volleyball team.

Amador Valley is 5-2 and is scheduled to play its first league game against San Ramon Valley on Friday.
