Donald Trump has a unique way of letting his five children know that he is at least thinking about them.
After recently revealing to the world that his 18-year-old son, Barron Trump, has probably never had a girlfriend, the 78-year-old GOP presidential candidate made what is an easily refuted and potentially embarrassing claim about Tiffany Trump’s record as a student at Georgetown University Law Center.
During a campaign stop in North Carolina on Monday, the former president asserted that his 31-year-old daughter graduated first in her class from Georgetown law school, NBC News reported.
“She was a great student, and she went to a fantastic law school, graduated No. 1 in her class,” Trump said at the event in Concord, North Carolina.
Astute Trump family observers might think that Tiffany Trump would at least be pleased to be mentioned by her father, given that she’s long been the target of jokes about being the 45th president’s “forgotten child.” Tiffany Trump, the daughter of Trump’s second wife Marla Maples, also may have enjoyed the way her father recently showed his pride, by announcing at a campaign event in Michigan, that she’s pregnant with her first child with husband Michal Boulos.
But Tiffany Trump could understandably be embarrassed by her father’s efforts to inflate her law school record. While she indeed graduated in 2020, she couldn’t have been “no. 1” in her class, because Georgetown law school doesn’t rank its graduating students, as other law schools do, NBC News reported. On its website, the law school said it does not rank graduating students.
Tiffany Trump moreover is not on the list of honors graduates for the 2020 class, NBC News said. The network said it had reached out to the Trump campaign for comment or clarification but had not heard back.
It also doesn’t appear that Tiffany Trump has made the career or life choices one would expect from a top law school graduate. The legal news site Above the Law said her legal aspirations seemed to “fade from obscurity” after she graduated from law school, and it’s not known whether she ever took the bar exam in any state or scored a job in the legal profession.
During Tiffany Trump’s time at Georgetown, when her father was president, she periodically made headlines for being on “the party circuit,” as Page Six reported in 2018. She was a member of the “Snap Pack,” a group of society heirs who amassed huge social medial followings with their luxe lifestyles. Page Six also said she often turned up at parties in the Hamptons and was known as a “regular” on “the Miami scene.”
Perhaps appropriately, Tiffany Trump met her husband on Mykonos, the reputed Greek party island, in 2018, when she was staying at Lindsay Lohan’s private beach club.
Tiffany Trump’s time at Georgetown law school also is remembered by a gaffe she made soon after starting in 2017. Her rep accidentally mistook the high-brow general interest magazine Harper’s for fashion bible Harper’s Bazaar, and emailed someone at Harper’s magazine to request an invitation for the celebrity-studded New York Fashion Week party, which was in fact hosted by Harper’s Bazaar. The gaffe sparked questions about how a dedicated student in the grueling first year of law school would have time to hit up multiple events at New York Fashion Week.
