Campbell/San Jose: Shake Shack burger restaurant opens near eBay

The New York-born cult favorite Shake Shack opens its fourth South Bay burger emporium today near the eBay campus.

The company undertook a major remodeling of the former Boston Market at Bascom Square on the Campbell/San Jose border, giving the space an open ceiling and more seating. The interior can now accommodate 106 diners and the outside tables 34.

Today’s festivities started with a ribbon cutting by Campbell Mayor Susan Landry, Vice Mayor Sergio Lopez and the Campbell Chamber of Commerce, and tote-bag swag for the first customers.

Shake Shack will donate a dollar to Second Harvest for every sandwich purchased today.

Brewery Day Trip: Get lost in the fog — and great beer — in Half Moon Bay

Menu highlights include the Black Truffle Burger and Black Truffle Shroom, limited-time offerings with gruyere cheese, black truffle sauce made with black truffle oil, and crispy onions; and three seasonal, hand-spun milkshakes, Apple Cider Donut,  Christmas Cookie and Chocolate Yule Log.

The fast-casual eatery was founded as a hot-dog cart in a New York City park but quickly became known for its all-natural Angus beef burgers. However, there’s still an all-natural Vienna beef “flat-top dog” on the menu — along with cage-free chicken sandwiches and crinkle-cut French fries.

The three other South Bay Shakes are at Westgate Center, Westfield Valley Fair mall and Westfield Oakridge.

Details: Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 1570 S. Bascom Ave., San Jose; https://shakeshack.com/#/
