The 25th annual Holiday Tree Lighting in downtown Sunnyvale is set for Dec. 7, 5-7:30 p.m., on Murphy Avenue. The event features performances by Dance Attack and Sunnyvale School District choirs, a speech by Mayor Larry Klein and a visit from Old St. Nick. Cityline Sunnyvale is hosting a holiday artisan market with Creative Communal Dec. 8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The pet-friendly event will be held at 241 S. Taaffe St. and will feature local makers, live music and activities for children. Register at Eventbrite.com.

Submissions for the fourth annual Gingerbread Village must be dropped off at the information desk at the Sunnyvale Public Library on Dec. 7 between noon and 5:30 p.m. This year’s themes are Whoville, Grinch and tropical holidays, but a themed submission is not required. Only one submission per household will be accepted, and maximum size is 12 inches long by 12 inches wide by 17 inches tall. Gingerbread creations won’t be returned.
The Gingerbread Village, sponsored by the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library, will be displayed Dec. 8 through early January 2025 in the Sunnyvale Public Library lobby.
