Five people were displaced and put in touch with the Red Cross following the blaze, which broke out about 4:30 p.m. at a residence at E. 18th Street and Crestwood Drive. In a statement on social media, the Contra Costa Fire Protection District said the injured person suffered smoke inhalation.

Authorities did not have a condition for that person Monday morning.

The blaze also took down a power line in the area.

The fire eventually grew to two alarms to protect the other homes in the area. One house was damaged enough that inhabitants were not allowed back into it.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
