OAKLAND — A 25-year-old Fresno woman was shot in East Oakland Monday morning, authorities said.
The woman was in stable condition at a hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to her chest, authorities said.
The shooting happened just after 12 a.m. Monday in the 1400 block of 13th Avenue, a mixture of homes and small businesses.

The woman claimed she did not know who shot her or why, authorities said. But officers later found a witness who told them she had been shot after getting into an argument with the occupants of a vehicle.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. Police have not yet said why they believe the woman was in Oakland.
