Taylor Swift gives nearly $200 million in bonuses to Eras Tour performers, crew

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour cast and crew are about to have a very Merry Christmas after the superstar gave out $197 million in bonuses.

The record selling tour, which grossed more than a whopping $2 billion, completed its 149-date run in Canada at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia. The “Karma” singer expressed her gratitude for her team’s work on the tour by putting almost 10% of the tour’s earnings back into her team members.

Everyone working on the tour received the bonus including “truck drivers, caterers, instrument techs, merch team, lighting, sound, production staff and assistants, carpenters, dancers, band, security, choreographers, pyrotechnics, riggers, hair, make-up, wardrobe, physical therapists and video team,” according to People.

Swift’s Eras tour, which the singer called “the most beloved chapter” of her life, made history as the bestselling tour of all time with $2,077,618,725 in tickets which is “double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history.

During the opening of the final show, Swift shared her gratitude to her fans concertgoers.

“We have toured the entire world,” she said. “We have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my entire life.”

And before performing her hit song, “Karma,” Swift took another moment to express her appreciation before taking her final bow. “I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date — my beloved Eras Tour.”

For the surprise song section of the tour’s last night, the “Fortnite” songstress performed a mashup of “Long Live,” “New Year’s Day” and ” The Manuscript.” “Long Live,” a song from album “Speak Now,” is dedicated to her fans who have supported her career along the way.

“This song for me is like looking at a photo album of all the award shows, and all the stadium shows, and all the hands in the air in the crowd,” she shared on her website.

“New Year’s Day” is the last song on her “Reputation” album and contains the line “hold on to the memories, they will hold onto you.”

“The Manuscript” a track from her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” is often interpreted to be about how her songs belong to the fans, with the final line: “Now and then I reread the manuscript, but the story isn’t mine anymore.”

The pop star’s Taylor Nation X account shared a message to fans late Sunday writing, ““We saw you spend hours designing your costumes, trading friendship bracelets, singing and dancing nonstop to the entire setlist, spreading love to everyone, and welcoming each city into our shared traditions.”

While her Eras tour chapter has come to a close, Swift has plenty to look forward to in the new year with her 6 Grammy nominations including album of the year.
