Alhambra basketball player Samuel Gillaspy is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Dec. 9-14.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Gillaspy finished with 41.94% of the vote. Mountain View basketball player Jayden Minor took second and Archbishop Riordan basketball player Jasir Rencher was third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
In four games during the week, Gillaspy averaged 19.75 points and four 3-pointers. Alhambra went 3-1, including wins over Irvington and Arroyo to capture the Arroyo tournament title. Gillaspy, a senior, received tournament MVP recognition.
The Athlete of the Week poll will take a two-week break during the holidays. The next poll is on Jan. 6.
