Vallejo already had seen an increase in homicides in 2024 from the previous year, but it added another one on Christmas Eve.
At approximately 12:56 a.m., the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division responded to a call for service regarding a shooting inside a building on the 200 block of Broadway Street.
Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was eventually pronounced deceased at the scene.
The identity of the deceased male is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office.

The Vallejo Police Department Homicide Detectives have taken over this investigation. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation at this time.
This incident marks the 24th homicide in the city of Vallejo for the year 2024. Of the 24 homicides in 2024, 10 came in a nine week period over the summer.
Vallejo had 22 homicides in 2023, down two from 24 homicides in 2022 but more than the 20 in 2021. Vallejo suffered 29 homicides in 2020, just one short of its record-high 30 in 1994.
