Man fatally shot in East Oakland

OAKLAND — A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in East Oakland Monday night, authorities said.

The man’s name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.  Police have not yet said where he lived.

The shooting happened about 9:01 p.m. Monday in the 4300 block of Fleming Avenue, a primarily residential area.

Stockton man killed Friday in East Oakland shooting

Initial reports were that the man was apparently sitting inside a parked vehicle when someone standing outside shot him.  The wounded man was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The shooter fled before police got to the scene.

A motive for the killing has not yet been released by investigators.  No suspect information has been released.

The killing is the 83rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.  Last year at this time police had investigated 126 homicides in the city, the final tally for 2023.
