Officers were called around 10:10 p.m. Saturday to the 3200 block of Loma Verde Drive for a report of a shooting and found a gravely injured man, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Police said the man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and died soon after. His name was not immediately released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

The shooting marks the first homicide of 2025 investigated by San Jose police. Last year, police investigated 28 homicides, at least 13 of which were shootings, according to data compiled by this news organization.
