Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Naliyah Sefidi, Monte Vista basketball

Monte Vista basketball player Naliyah Sefidi is the Bay Area News Group girls high school athlete of the week for Jan. 20-25.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sefidi finished with 46.46% of the vote. Oakland Tech basketball player Jhai Johnson took second with 33.19%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Sefidi, a sophomore, made the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer against Sacred Heart Prep to cap a 39-point night. She followed that by scoring 19 points and dishing seven assists in a victory over Foothill.
