OAKLAND — A 47-year-old man shot multiple times Sunday night as he sat in his car in West Oakland was in critical but stable condition Monday, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 7:25 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of 34th Street.
Police said the Oakland man had driven to the area to see friends.
He was sitting in his car when someone walked up to the vehicle and began shooting at the man, police said.
The shooter fled on foot.
The wounded man was driven to a hospital by a friend.
Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting. No information has been released about the shooter.
