Man dies in Antioch shooting

ANTIOCH — A 23-year-old man was fatally shot here Wednesday night, police said.

His name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.  Police have not said where the man lived.

The shooting happened about 10:24 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Hillcrest Avenue and Larkspur Drive, not far from Highway 4.

Oakland police chief says man who allegedly tried to kill officer had shot at police before

Officers responding to reports of shots fired found the man who had at least one gunshot wound.  Officers provided aid to the victim at the scene before he was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Police have not yet released any information about a possible motive or suspects.  No arrests have been announced.
