Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Eve Monzon, Freedom basketball

Freedom basketball player Eve Monzon is the Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week for Feb. 3-8.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Monzon finished with 42% of the votes. Christopher basketball player Brooklyn Sax took second with 29.82%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

The senior scored 21 points in a victory over Pittsburg as she helped the BVAL regular season champs remain undefeated in league play at 9-0. She finished the week averaging 16.7 points per game on the season.
