“Space Beach” is expanding once again — by welcoming a new company to the city.
True Anomaly Inc., a defense technology company developing advanced space superiority systems, announced its expansion into Southern California with a 90,000-square-foot factory at Long Beach’s Douglas Park.

The factory will serve as the company’s footprint for new product development and vertical integration, and include 20,000 square feet of office space for True Anomaly’s growing employee base, officials said.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the City Hall lobby. In attendance were city leaders and representatives from several “Space Beach” companies, such as Relativity Space, Rocket Lab, and Boeing, among others. (Space Beach is the moniker the city gave itself when talking about aerospace companies.)
Space Beach will allow the company to establish roots in a central part of Southern California and unlock access to new talent, customers and production capacity, said Chief Financial Officer Mark Seidel.
“Long Beach is a significant expansion for us; it’s about three times the footprint,” Seidel said, comparing the new facililty to the company’s Colorado headquarters. “We do have plans to double our workforce this year and talent has been a major focus area for us.”
True Anomaly will utilize the Long Beach factory to develop and produce its hardware and software systems. It will also include expanded classified operations and has the added benefit of being close to a key customer in Space Systems Command, according to a press release.
The company will allocate 70,000 square feet to design, develop and produce new space superiority solutions, unlocking significant manufacturing to support customer demand, said Casey Harr, head of new product development.
True Anomaly will look to hire engineers to work on electrical systems and software, Harr added. The company will also hire for manufacturing, assembly and test jobs for the facility.
